DeFuniak Springs is a small, historic city in the Florida Panhandle, notable for its Victorian architecture, the perfectly circular spring-fed Lake DeFuniak, and its history as a winter retreat for the Chautauqua Assembly. It is the county seat of Walton County. Its population as of the 2020 U.S. Census is nearly 6,000. Between Thanksgiving and New Year’s Day, residents and visitors are treated to what locals call “Christmas Reflections,” as the surrounding landscape of Lake DeFuniak is decorated.
